FARM SHARE, INC. DISTRIBUTES A RECORD 40 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD TO OVER 6 MILLION HOUSEHOLDS!
Farm Share has set a new record this past year with approximately 40,497,190 pounds of food distributed to hungry families, children, seniors, veterans and individuals state wide representing 6,489,810 households (25,959,240 individuals)!
This new distribution record eclipses the previous record set by Farm Share just last year by more than 8 million pounds.
Farm Share, through its 5 statewide facilities located in Homestead, Florida City, Pompano Beach, Jacksonville and Quincy, donates fresh fruits and vegetables from Florida’s farmers and puts it into the hands of the millions of low-income households in need of nutritious foods. After receiving the donation of food products, Farm Share then re-sorts and packages the foods for distribution to individuals, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, churches and other organizations feeding the hungry in Florida — free of charge. Thanks to the tremendous increase of pounds donated this past year, the amount of households that have received food donations from Farm Share has doubled since 2014.
