Tampa, FL- Farm Share teamed up with State Representative Mark Danish to sponsor a food distribution to feed hundreds of hungry families in Tampa.
Seniors, children, families and veterans in need of nutritious food were provided Farm Share food packages free of charge. In an interview with Tampa Bay Tribune, Representative Mark Danish said, the Farm Share truck came equipped with enough food to pack bags for about 1,000 families, and when the distribution was scheduled to end, volunteers had given away more than half of it. Each household received fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen meats, bread, sweet tea and more.
Last year, Farm Share provided more than $40 million in food to over one million Florida families in poverty. Most of the food is distributed through a community network of church food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, senior centers, and veterans groups.
