Hialeah, FL- Hundreds lined up Friday for a special care package. Farm Share partners with Mayor Carlos Hernandez to give free food to Hialeah residents in need.
Though the giveaway began at 10 a.m., Friday, there was still a line of people waiting to get their share of more than 30,000 pounds of food at Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah. About 1,000 families showed up to the event.
Some people needed a meal so badly they showed up hours before the event started.
The families in need were given enough food for nearly two weeks. Though the line was still long at noon, Farm Share had enough food to satisfy the demand. The giveaway event ended at 1 p.m.
